Impressions of the information event KLOSTERPARK Boitzenburg
Around 100 interested citizens and community representatives from Boitzenburg and other towns in the Boitzenburg region gathered in the gymnasium of the Boitzenburg primary and comprehensive school on 28 November to find out about the plans for the KLOSTERPARK Boitzenburg.
Daniel Haver presented the current status of the pub renovation as well as information on the planned acquisition of the monastery mill and barn by the non-profit organisation UMBRUCH Gemeinwohl gGmbH. He outlined new perspectives for the mill museum, supplemented by comments from renowned museum expert Dr. Kurt Winkler, who is part of the project team. Above all, the grand vision of KLOSTERPARK Boitzenburg, synonymous with the joint development and marketing of the area around the monastery ruins, was emphasised.
We can only thank you for the great interest, for the many questions, for the support expressed and also for the critical comments and discussions. The evening has confirmed our resolve to continue to sharpen our vision with transparency, openness and in dialogue with the community and citizens, and to move the region forward sustainably together.
In January, we will address further questions in various municipal committees and then look forward to the vote of the municipal council at the end of February 2025, when a decision will be made on the sale of the mill and barn.
So much from our side. But what do the citizens think? The ‘Nordkurier’ reported on the event and collected some opinions. Both articles are available here:
“Unternehmer will Klostermühle samt Scheune für künftigen Klosterpark kaufen”
“Bürger sehen Chancen, aber auch Risiken in der Privatisierung des Kleinodes”
