Neighbors with neighbors

Culture on the mountain. The Berlin-Brandenburg reading tour comes to Boitzenburg.

We, the Stiftung Zukunft Berlin and the UMBRUCH Gruppe, cordially invite you to:

When: Sunday, 25 May 2025 from 2:30-5:30 pm

Where: Parish church „St. Marien auf dem Berge“, Goethestraße 5, 17268 Boitzenburger Land

Participation is free of charge, but places are limited. We therefore ask you to register by 11 May 2025.

The Boitzenburger Land is always worth a visit. Some of the most beautiful hiking and cycling trails in Germany await you here all year round. On Sunday, 25 May 2025, however, an excursion is particularly worthwhile. As part of the ‘Nachbarn bei Nachbarn’ initiative, writer Holger Siemann will be reading from the book “Drei Stunden hinter Berlin. Briefe aus dem Vikariat.” by Heinrich Wolfgang Seidel. Musical accompaniment will be provided by the Boitzenburg church choir Cantores and Adrian Rovatkay on the organ. Afterwards, we look forward to a neighbourly exchange over coffee and cake.

The Stiftung Zukunft Berlin has been behind the initiative since 2013. It regularly organises readings in selected village churches in Brandenburg to promote exchange and understanding between the metropolis and the countryside.

Together with the Stiftung Zukunft Berlin, we have put together a programme designed to inspire, inform and connect. You are cordially invited to come and relax, take a deep breath, let your eyes wander and your thoughts run free.

Visit us on 25 May 2025 in the beautiful Boitzenburger Land.

Optional preliminary programme in the morning

For capacity reasons, we only offer the pre-programme to visitors from outside the city.

The area around the monastery ruins is one of the oldest populated areas in Boitzenburg. The former mill is now a museum, historical objects and equipment are stored in the neighbouring barn, and the former stable was used in the past as the ‘Wirtshaus zur Klostermühle’ inn.

The UMBRUCH Gruppe has acquired this unique ensemble in order to awaken it from its slumber. Together with the municipality, partners and authorities, the buildings are being renovated to preserve their substance. And finally reopened as KLOSTERPARK Boitzenburg. A flagship project for structural development in Brandenburg, about which initiator Daniel Haver will provide information in person.
